Long Wedding Hairstyles You Need to Try

The coolest wedding day hair for long locks

Time to talk wedding hair! There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing how you will style your hair on your wedding day: your dress, its neckline, and the accessories that complete your look. From there, you’ll want to consider your hair length when finding the perfect style. We looked to Adam Maclay, celebrity hairstylist and resident hair expert, to create two cool, modern long wedding hairstyles (incorporating wedding hair accessories in a way you may have never considered!) to inspire your day-of-do.

Half-Up Bohemian Braid

Braids are one of our favorite hair details and especially pretty when weaved into long wedding hairstyles. They can be clean and classic or undone and effortless. This half-up, half-down style incorporates romantic plaits and the prettiest sparkle headpiece for a beautiful boho ‘do. Follow these steps to recreate the look:

Use a flat iron in an S pattern to create texture.

Section of the top of the hair and start creating a sturdy base for the headpiece by placing the bobby pins in an X pattern.

Figure out placement for the headpiece (we’re using a multi-purpose and oh-so-pretty belt) and pin in place.
Hair stylist braiding ribbon into hair
Pull two pieces of hair from the front and braid the ribbon into the plait.

Finish with texturizing spray for the ultimate boho feel and maximum hold all night long.

Get in your gown, consider adding a veil, and you’re ready to say I do!

Undone Chignon

An up-do is a perfect way to highlight your bridal glow on your wedding day, keeping your hair out of your face and your newlywed smile on display. A bridal bun is a classic, go-to style and we’re giving it a bit of a twist with an undone (yet pretty) feel and all the accessories to make your look standout. Here’s how to get the look:

Hair stylist twisting long hair
Start with fresh hair that has a bit of texture. Grab a section of hair and twist towards the center of the head.
Hair pinned back with bobby pins
Continue on the other side and secure with a bobby pin.
Hair stylist twisting and pinning hair
Twist and secure sections of hair once until you reach the base of the head. Secure with pins in an X pattern.
Hair stylist pinning twisted bun
Separate the remaining hair into two sections. Twist the hair around itself and over the base of pins.

Repeat on the other side and secure with pins. Pull pieces lightly for an undone feel.

Finally, sparkle up the look! Add barrettes and pins of various sizes and textures throughout the chignon.

VoilĂ ! Classic with a modern twist!
