The majority of women's clothing lines, including bridal collections, are based on a size 8 sample that is graded to create a full range of sizes. David's Bridal is different because we recognize that each size is different. Our fit is based on extensive research with thousands of real brides in every shape and size. For our Woman sizing, our fit model is size 18W and each pattern is adjusted according to our research using real customers' measurements. By basing our sizing on realistic models, our dresses will fit and flatter you like no other.

A-LINE

The A-line silhouette features a fitted bodice that gradually flares from the waist, creating a smooth, elongated line. A-line styles are flattering for all heights, shapes and sizes, as they miraculously help accent and create fabulous curves. A-line styles can be soft and fluid, or you may choose to enhance the shape and structure with the addition of a full slip.

BALL GOWN or PICK-UP

The ball gown is a classic dress shape that creates just the right proportion by balancing a fitted bodice with a voluminous skirt. The most traditional of all dress silhouettes, the ball gown adds curves by defining the waist and flowing gracefully into a full skirt. The skirt is great at hiding full hips and creating a gorgeous hourglass figure. This regal style looks great on most body types and is a perfect choice for a formal or romantic destination-inspired wedding. The PICK-UP gown is a modern interpretation of this silhouette, adding skirt interest and detail.

Also known as the fit-and-flare, this dress is fitted at the top and flairs dramatically around the knee. The feminine, hourglass silhouette accentuates the bust, waist and hips, so it is perfect for showing off your curves. This sophisticated style is an ideal choice for a glamorous bride in any setting.

EMPIRE

This dress style features a bodice with a high waistline directly below the bust. The empire silhouette draws attention up and enhances your waist, while at the same time flattering your hips, making it a great look for most body types. Tea-length styles are also a popular choice for a second dress you can wear at your reception to dance the night away.

HOW TO MEASURE

Measure with undergarments similar to those you will wear with your dress; do not measure over other clothing. Make sure the measuring tape is parallel to the floor and pulled evenly across the body with no slack. You may want to consider getting professionally measured. Consult the Size Charts and Fit Guide to determine which size you should purchase.

Length from Hollow to Hem

Measure from the center of the collarbone (Hollow) to the dress hem. Note: The length is not measured starting from the garment neckline.

Bust

Measure across the back and fullest part of the bust (not under the bust).

Waist

Bend to one side to find the crease or natural waist. Measure across the narrowest part.

Hip

Standing with feet together, measure at the fullest part of the hip.
