David's Bridal 2014 Fall Collection Celebrates Three Distinct Design Concepts

New Design Platforms to Feature Global Inspirations and Fashion-Forward Accents

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA, Fall 2014 - The David's Bridal design team, based in NYC, used three design concepts for their Fall 2014 collection inspirations - "Language of Flowers," "Baroque Opulence" and "Clean Glamour." All of the featured collections at David's Bridal are inspired by these distinct categories and incorporate unique elements into each individual line.

David's Bridal predicts that the desired trends for this season will be delicate sleeves and detailed décolletage; rich brocade fabrics with elaborate design and textures; intricate use of pearls; soft, shimmery fabrics and gowns with clean, simple silhouettes. Brides will find these elements within the 2014 Fall collections.

Gowns inspired by the "Language of Flowers" concept feature feminine details, artisanal touches such as antique lace and floating floral appliques, and collapsed volume skirts. The whimsical new collection from Melissa Sweet embodies this concept by combining lace with softly shirred fabrics along the neckline, bodice and skirt. In addition, several of her new gowns offer a modern twist with a drop waistline, exuding chic elegance with a youthful feel. Also inspired by the "Language of Flowers" are gowns by Galina that feature unique necklines, vintage details and floating floral appliques that are available in traditional white and antique-hues. The bride can accessorize her look with beautiful vintage-inspired jewelry and accessories featuring pearl, lace and tulle accents. Floral and pearl sashes and delicate lace caplets, bolero jackets and wraps provide the final touches for her special day. To carry this theme throughout the entire wedding party, bridesmaid dresses feature illusion necklines and details, lace textures and are available in a new shade of pink called Quartz.

Inspired by the beauty found in dark, mystical fairy tales, "Baroque Opulence" exudes romance with touches of metallic gold and platinum, beautiful scrollwork and hand-beaded pearls. True to the traditional design aesthetic, the 2014 Fall Oleg Cassini Collection reflects this vision with the use of new techniques to create the illusion of heavy brocade fabrics featuring lace and tapestry textures. The collection incorporates two of the biggest trends of the seasons - pearls and long sleeves - while still offering brides a classic silhouette. Intricately embellished accessories are the perfect complement for this bride and include statement necklaces, tiaras, cuff bracelets and chandelier earrings. The bride can extend this motif through to her bridal party with bridesmaid dress designs that feature contrast corded lace and sculpted skirts in new colors such as Garnet (deep burgundy) and Tarragon (dark green).

Elements of the "Clean Glamour" platform continue to remain in vogue, as demand increases for styles that offer a classic and sophisticated look. The Galina Signature line includes gowns that feature clean, modern lines and satin material with a hint of shimmer creating a simple but elegant look. The David's Bridal Core Collection features soft tulle ball gowns, drop-waist trumpet silhouettes and clean-satin fabrics. For the more chic and savvy bride, DB Studio has designed soft shimmer sheaths and white special occasion dresses that are perfect for pre- or post-wedding celebrations or for the destination bride. New bridesmaid dresses featuring draped detailing and matte fabrics will complement this look in new colors of Blue Violet, Pacific and Raspberry.

These trends will be represented in Fall 2014 social occasion dresses as well. New designs feature illusion necklines, lace fabrics, cutaway necklines, all-over beading and the party skirt. Navy is the new black for special occasion attire, while the sleek black and nude combination is still on-trend.

Debuting this season for bridesmaids are dresses in three new fabrications. With brides gravitating to more structured dresses, new fabrics faille and crepe will offer several options that feature a fuller silhouette while still sleek and elegant. The new matte charmeuse is a softer version of a satin fabric but lighter in weight and with a hint of sheen. In addition, lace bridesmaid dresses will be available in an expanded color palette including options with contrast corded lace and various fabric combinations.

Every woman knows that no outfit is complete without the perfect shoe. This season's shoes will pull from the same themes and inspirations used for the dresses, with brides finding options with floral motifs, crystals, soft shimmer and lace. Comfort is still important, with more options available in wedge and ballet flat styles.
