When you visit the store to try on gowns, take your ideas with you, but also remain open to new ideas. Try on a variety of styles, even if you have a very specific vision of your perfect gown. Invite close friends or family to join you, but limit your entourage to two or three people. You may also want to make a solo visit so you can ponder your options without distractions or conflicting opinions.
When shopping for your gown, let your bridal consultant know all the details of your wedding so she can provide appropriate suggestions. Note that your gown size may be different than usual, due to the nature of bridal sizing. Do not concern yourself with the number on the inside of the dress; what really matters is how it makes you look and feel. Also note that most dresses will have to be altered to obtain a perfect fit. Keep in mind that it is easier and less expensive to have a dress taken in (and sometimes impossible to let it out); so if you're in doubt or between sizes, go with the larger one.
