Ageless Style: How to Pick Age-Appropriate Bridesmaid Dresses
by Marissa Rubinetti

It’s officially wedding season. You’ve chosen your bridal party. Now, let the bridesmaid dress shopping begin! Whether your bridesmaids are 15 or 45, there are ways to have every one of your favorite ladies coordinate while looking and feeling their best on your big day!

The Teens
Have a bridesmaid that is just getting over the junior bridesmaid phase? Why not dress her in a short V-neck stunner that shows off some leg, but keeps her top slightly covered with sleeves.

Twenty-Somethings
Your best girlfriends will look glamorous in a short stretch-satin style. This dress has a modern crumb catcher bodice that is both fashion-forward and adds dimension.

Thirty to Forty-Somethings
For those in search of a more conservative silhouette, this long bridesmaid dress has an empire waist that creates an elongated figure. The ruched satin overlay adds the perfect mix of elegance and style.

Congratulations and happy shopping!

Marissa’s Oscar Fashion Predictions
by Marissa Rubinetti

The Oscars are less than a week away, and fashionistas everywhere (myself included) are anxiously awaiting the red carpet arrivals. Here are some of the trends I think we’ll see at this year’s Oscars, and how women everywhere can get the look-for-less at David’s Bridal!

Wedding-Inspired Gowns
Stars like Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and Elle Macpherson could have passed as brides at this year’s Golden Globes. At the SAG awards, Viola Davis and Kaley Cuoco truly looked aisle-worthy. Bridal-inspired gowns are hot at the moment, and I see this continuing at the Oscars. I love this pink strapless gown that perfectly emulates the blush and bridal trend!

Updates to the Classic
Red, black and white are timeless hues donned by both old and new Hollywood. Who can forget the black Givenchy gown with pearls worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s or the red gown Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman? This year, I think there will be major modern updates to classic colored dresses—updates like sequins, cutouts, open backs and low necklines. This one-shoulder beaded gown with cutouts boasts red carpet style for the modern day glam girl.

Heavenly Headpieces
Traditionally, stars have shined on the red carpet with jewelry like diamond statement necklaces, crystal embellished bangles and chandelier earrings. This year, we’re seeing stars like Michelle Williams, Charlize Theron and Busy Phillips don headbands finished with crystals and pearls. The trend, which can easily be replicated for less, may shine during this award show.

Happy Oscar watching and shopping!

Meet Marissa Rubinetti

Marissa’s love for fashion began from the moment she tried on her mother’s clothes and jewelry as a little girl. As an adult, she has turned this passion into a career as a buyer and style expert at David’s Bridal, where she helps develop its special occasion, prom and mother of the bride collections. A native New Yorker, Marissa is always on top of the latest trends and stays one stylish step ahead by keeping up with fashion magazines and watching red carpet events. She also lives by the style mantra, “the more bling the better” and thinks statement necklaces are key when wearing a LBD or the new LWD. Recently engaged, Marissa is excited to share her eye for fashion and love of bridal, offering up tips to help women of all ages create an unforgettable look for their next special event.
