What to Wear to a Summer Wedding
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

Now that the warmer weather is here, it feels like wedding season is in full swing! I recently had a family wedding and decided I wanted to update my look. I opted for a floral frock and paired it with a bright lip. I don’t often think of prints when I’m picking out my formal wear, but it was such a refreshing change—I definitely recommend it!

When you’re selecting a dress for an upcoming occasion, it’s important to opt for a frock that’s consistent with the setting – but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it! Read on for more tips for finding the perfect dress for a summer wedding.

Black-Tie Weddings
For a formal affair, embrace the opportunity to work a glam gown. From pretty pastels to embellishments, the possibilities are endless! Since we’re seeing slits on so many stars on the red carpet, I think a formal wedding is the perfect time to try the look out on your own. I love the dress below, especially because the slit is so tasteful.

Destination/Beach Weddings
A beach wedding is definitely much more laid back—and it’s great to embrace the vibe of your surroundings! I think a printed maxi is both practical and chic for the occasion. Leave the stilettos at home and instead wear wedges or flat sandals and your ensemble is complete.

Rustic Weddings
Rustic, romantic weddings set outdoors are definitely popular in the spring and summer months. Whether it’s an ethereal garden setting or in a rustic barn, you definitely don’t want to go overboard with your ensemble. I recently embraced florals in formal wear, and I think it works so well with a rustic scene.

Traditional Weddings
The family wedding I recently attended was traditional—and if you’re attending a conventional affair the possibilities are endless! I think a cocktail dress in a silhouette that flatters your figure is your best bet. It’s also a great opportunity to try out some of the new trends for the season like blush tones.

Katrina’s Celebrity Bridal Gown Predictions
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

So many stars are getting ready to tie the knot—and I can’t wait to see what they’ll wear when they walk down the aisle! Choosing what you’ll wear when you say ‘I Do’ definitely isn’t easy, regardless of whether or not you’re a major A-lister. It’s important to find a wedding dress that represents your style aesthetic, and makes you feel confident. Check out the styles I think we’ll see on some of the stars!

Angelina Jolie
It seems like her right leg is almost as famous on the red carpet as she is—and there’s no denying the fact that the star loves seriously sexy looks. While I definitely think her wedding dress will be more romantic than some of her recent red carpet get-ups, she marches to the beat of her own drum, so I would be shocked to see the star in a traditional, voluminous gown. Instead, I think we’ll see her in something romantic and timeless that allows her to flaunt her svelte frame—and that’s exactly what you can do in the dress below.

Drew Barrymore
Drew’s style is very eclectic, but since she is such a true romantic at heart I think we could expect to see her in an ethereal gown that captures the spirit of the day. There’s rumors that the star will be wearing Chanel when she walks down the aisle—and that her special day could be as soon as June 2! I’m really loving this strapless gown, because it’s modern, romantic and chic at the same time, just like Drew.

Jessica Biel
Jessica Biel loves to take chances on the red carpet, but for her wedding day I think she’ll opt for something traditional and chic, that highlights her fantastic, athletic figure. She and her fiancé, Justin Timberlake, are definitely in the midst of planning—and I predict we might see them tie the knot as soon as this summer!

Katrina’s Favorite Looks from the 2012 Met Ball
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

The Met Ball is literally like the Oscars of fashion, practically trumping all of awards season combined with the glamorous avant-garde dresses and major star power. I had the opportunity to go, and it was so refreshing to see so much variety on the red carpet! If you want to emulate some of the major trends I saw that night, check out my favorite David’s Bridal picks below.

Peplum Detailing
Peplum detailing on skirts and dresses was a major trend for spring and summer on the runway, and it also ruled the red carpet at the Met Ball, with both Eva Mendes and January Jones showing off the trend. I love the detailing on this strapless dress—in fact, it’s almost the same color as January’s dress, (but is definitely more wearable)!

Plunging Necklines
So many stars opted to flaunt their assets with a plunging neckline, making it a major trend at the Met Ball. From Dianna Agron to Debra Messing and Camilla Belle, stars showed off the trend in all shapes, sizes and silhouettes. If you want to recreate the look, I recommend wearing a halter dress, like the gorgeous gown below.

Backless Dresses
Talk about bringing sexy back! From Rihanna to Cameron Diaz, so many stars looked stunning. Their bare backs left such a dramatic yet chic impression. You too can achieve the same result by wearing a dress like this to your next affair.

Florals
From Emma Stone’s embellished gown to Hailee Stienfeld and Sarah Jessica Parker, the stars exhibited that florals are a fitting choice for formalwear at any age! Whether you go for a gorgeous gown or a flirty frock, the trend is such a nice way to show off a different look at your next occasion, like this vibrant gown.

How to Rock Statement Jewelry
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

When it comes to getting dressed, I definitely have the most fun picking out my jewelry. Trends may come and go, but with jewelry, you should stay true to your individual sense of style. My personal taste is very eclectic—I love big, bold and even colorful pieces! Check out some of my personal favorite statement pieces from my jewelry case and the David’s Bridal styles I can’t wait to try.

Bold Necklaces

If I’m wearing jeans and a simple blouse, I always like to take my look up a notch with a standout necklace, like the pink one I’m wearing here. This bold, multi-strand style was definitely the highlight of my outfit.

If you’re wearing a strapless dress or a simple sheath and feel like you want to add a little glam to your get-up, pair it with a bold necklace like the one below.

Single Standout Bracelets
For every day, I often layer a bunch of different bracelets and bangles, but when I’m getting all dressed up I often wear single cuff. It’s dramatic without competing with your outfit, and it was a huge trend on the red carpet during awards season.

I love the feminine detailing of this piece and how the floral trend is representing. It definitely gives an outfit a softer, almost vintage look which is so popular for spring.

Rings and Chandelier Earrings
Nothing makes a statement quite like a bold ring, especially when you’re getting all dressed up. For formal wear, I rely on a more traditional cocktail ring like this brown one.

If you prefer earrings to a ring, you can recreate the look with a statement pair of chandelier earrings. I love the way a dramatic earring looks with a dress, when the neck is kept bare and the hair is swept up or to one side.

Jewelry Case
Proper storage is crucial when it comes to accessories—and that rule also applies when you’re on the go! Whether you’re preparing for a trip or just cleaning out your closet, be sure to properly store your special accessories. Jewelry cases also make great gifts for girlfriends!

Loving the Little White Dress (LWD)

Loving the Little White Dress (LWD)
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

While every woman should have a little black dress hanging in her closet, once the weather gets warmer I think the little white dress totally takes its place! Whether it’s for date night, for a vacation, attending a garden cocktail party or even for a more formal affair, a white dress is a classic, stylish and chic option.

Here are just a few of my favorite LWDs from David’s Bridal.

One-Shoulder Wonder
A form-fitting, streamlined silhouette is so sexy and chic. I love this option below, specifically because of the one-shoulder detailing.

Feminine and Flirty
If you’re looking for something more feminine and flirty, I suggest opting for a dress with a full silhouette. This sweetheart strapless neckline is flattering on a variety of figures while the full skirt is flirty and comfortable—and, it’s so Taylor Swift.

Trendsetting Feathers
For those looking to make a statement, the LWD gets an update with embellishments. If you want to give the illusion of a more curvaceous silhouette, you can achieve it with added depth like feathers. Headed out to a fun party and looking for the perfect cocktail dress? This is the way to go.

Classic & Chic
With minimal detailing and a silhouette that would flatter a variety of figures, this dress would work well in a variety of situations. You can pile on jewelry if you want to get glam or keep it simple if you’re attending an outdoor event.

Not only is the LWD a staple in my wardrobe, but it’s also just as popular on the red carpet! Have fun with your look and don’t be afraid to add a pop of color with accessories. Happy LWD shopping!

Katrina’s Fashionable Vacation to Mexico!
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

After Fashion Week and awards season come to an end, it’s the perfect time to get away and relax—and that’s just what I did! I headed to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun for a few days, where I enjoyed the weather and a slew of activities. While packing can be a pain, I was excited to get away and show off some of the spring trends that I haven’t been able to break out just yet.

First Night

Our first night, we went to dinner. I opted for a floral strapless dress with an asymmetrical hemline. Florals are everywhere this season, and I love how you can easily take a floral dress and dress it up or down. The strapless style and the gathering under the bust is so flattering on a variety of shapes, and it really enhances my waist.

Get the look with this printed David’s Bridal dress.

Day 2: Sail fishing!

On our second day, we were up bright and early for sail fishing. I kept it casual, throwing on a white belted cover-up over my striped bathing suit. A tribal beach bag completed my look. Whether I’m getting all dressed up or keeping it casual, I almost always cinch in my waist to enhance my shape. Belting adds a nice touch to formal dresses—and that’s exactly what you can achieve with this sash.

Night 2: Cocktail party!

On our second night, we headed over to the exquisite Le Blanc hotel for a cocktail party, so I wanted to get a bit more dressed up. Spring is all about color, and my one-shoulder dress exhibits this trend perfectly! I color blocked with my accessories, pairing the dress with bright yellow pumps and a blue envelope clutch. I swept my hair to one side to keep the focus on the frock.

This vibrant one-shoulder dress is perfect for a cocktail party or summer wedding.

Night 3: At the Enrique concert!

On our third night, we headed over to an Enrique Iglesias concert. Since I knew we would be standing, I ditched my pumps and opted for flat sandals and a printed dress. I accessorized with my blue envelope clutch. An unexpected pop of color is a great way to add a trendy spring vibe to any outfit—even if you’re heading out for a more formal occasion.

Looking to dress up your formal outfit? I love this fun and flirty rosette clutch.

Style 3631 in Pink

Day 4: Heading home!

We left Cancun bright and early, and I kept my outfit comfortable for the flight home. A flowing striped skirt that I love to wear on lazy summer days got a fresh update, thanks to my bright sleeveless top. Tangerine seems to be everywhere this season, and I love how it highlighted my tan! A long sweater kept me warm on the plane, while my hat concealed my hair from the night before.

This bright shade is perfect for prom or your next event—nothing says summer like a vibrant color!
