    • No need for a wedding planner, everything can conveniently be done online!
    • Incorporate your bridal party, family and friends to help back your cake, do your hair and make-up, create decorations, be the photographer, or even DJ! Your guest list is sure to have great talent so utilize them!
    • Make a CD of your favorite playlist or have a guest bake treats as your favors.
    • Stick to appetizer and dessert, people tend to get full on finger foods anyway.
    • You can save a ton of money booking your wedding on a day other than Saturday. Look for a Friday or even a Sunday and compare prices.
    • Find a venue that isn’t known for wedding, they tend to be less expensive.
    • Buy flowers that are in season, they tend to be less expensive!
    • Use your bridesmaid’s flowers as centerpieces.

    PlanningThe Bachelorette Party
    by Katrina Mitzeliotis

While bachelorette parties in movies always seem to incorporate pink cocktails and corny games, there are many ways to celebrate. I recently experienced a very traditional bachelorette party for one of my closest girlfriends. Since she was the first of our group to get engaged, we thought the best way to celebrate would be in Vegas. In a couple of years it probably won’t be so easy to round up a big group of girls for a trip to Vegas, so we seized the opportunity to celebrate in a big way!

Luckily, this trip didn’t end in a Bridesmaids movie style debacle. We stayed at the Cosmopolitan hotel and planned a variety of activities. From a nice dinner to a day at the Encore Beach Club pool party, the trip managed to strike the perfect balance between relaxing and fun. We surprised her with decorations in the room and a basket, which included a towel with her new last name embroidered on it that she can use after the wedding. Another cute option could have been this personalized super cute bathing suit, which would be perfect for our days lounging poolside.

Planning a friend’s bachelorette party doesn’t have to include travel or be over-the-top—as long as you’re creative you can plan the perfect day!

If the bride-to-be is more of a homebody, brunch and a day at the spa would be a nice option. In fact, many places offer specials to accommodate groups and make the day that much more memorable. Kick off this type of bash with a chic spa-inspired invitation.

Wine-tasting is another great option for the bride-to-be who wants an alternative to a big night out. Whether you turn this into a weekend getaway or just go for the day, you’re bound to enjoy the festivities while trying new flavors.

For the fitness enthusiast, a private yoga or spin class could be a great way to work out all together while still having fun. Finish the day with a relaxing mani/pedi and leave guests with this super cute manicure set.

If you’re looking to keep it classic and fun, you can also plan a cocktail party or a dinner. Make the bride-to-be’s favorite foods, mix up some creative cocktails and create a playlist of her favorite tunes and get ready to have fun.

Regardless of what you decide to do, it should celebrate your friendship and represent what she loves to do the most!

    Katrina Attends a Bridal Shower
    by Katrina Mitzeliotis

While bridal showers are definitely one of the wedding traditions that have been around for as long as most of us can remember, I’m always impressed by the unique wedding ideas that people plan to make the day creative and fun for guests.

This past weekend, I attended an afternoon bridal shower, where guests mingled and sipped on white sangria. From the bow-tie pasta to the refreshing beverages, the event was so summer-appropriate. The table was decorated with bright pink floral arrangements and adorable, mini-manicure sets and macaroons—the perfect take-away treat!

Rather than play a slew of games, guests watched the bride-to-be respond to questions her fiancé had already answered. After she gave her response, a video recording of her future groom shared his answer. This cute activity reminded me of the ‘newlywed’ game—and it also allowed those in attendance to sit back and have fun!

At the shower, I opted for a bright dress that kept me feeling cool and looking chic in the heat. I paired the dress with long, dangling earrings to dress up my look.

I love the romantic feel of the pair below—and you can easily re-wear them for a glam night out!

You also can never go wrong with a festive dress. It’s such a summertime staple—and it works so well with a pair of wedges. I love the stylish, yet classic, vibe you can achieve with the pair of wedges below.

It’s Elemental: Coordinating the Details of Your Winter Wedding

It’s Elemental: Coordinating the Details of Your Winter Wedding

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…for a wedding! The crisp air, the festive mood and perhaps, even a romantic snowy backdrop. Here are some of my top tips for putting together your mid-winter celebration in simple stunning style.

It’s all about layers! Just like your winter wardrobe, the best way to think about your winter wedding theme is to add layers of elegant seasonal details throughout all the aspects of the celebration.

Let the season inspire your look. Once you’ve selected your venue for the ceremony and reception, choose a gown and accessories that will make you feel like a snowy princess. To me, winter weddings have a timeless feeling, so why not create a vintage theme for your whole wintry celebration? I adore this glamorous faux fur capelet.

Lace up your bouquets. I love lace both as a vintage detail and as a winter element—it reminds me of the intricate patterns of snowflakes. Why not have all your ladies carry delicate white bouquets trimmed in lace? These pretty posies are from my book, Simple Stunning Weddings.

Inviting ideas. Your invitations are the first style element your guests will see, so get the winter mood started with a little extra sparkle. This elegant Treasured Gems invitation is a layered piece, with a bright white card on a silvery quartz background, perfect for the season. Add an accent bow in white, or bring in a deeper winter hue like this deep burgundy for an extra “pop.”

Let there be light. Luminaries aren’t just for summer weddings and not everything at a winter wedding needs to scream “snowflakes.” There is nothing more beautiful than candles on a cold afternoon or evening. Imagine the snowy path to your ceremony or reception lined with these angelic white luminaries.

For your tables, choose accents with a little sparkle. I want these pearlized pillar candles for all my holiday parties, and they’d make a stunning tablescape. Arrange them atop mirrored squares or circles for a gorgeous centerpiece then give the candles to guests (or take them home yourself) to make your mantle or table beautiful all season long.
