Prep, Pampering, and Peace of Mind: Treating Yourself Well Before (and on) Your Big Day

Hey, being a bride is hard work!  You’ve got guest lists and invitations and flowers and menus and music and all kinds of other elements to keep track of, not to mention the daunting task of keeping everyone happy, from your family to your bridal party.  Amid all the deadlines and details, it’s easy to overlook taking care of a very important person—You!  Here are a few of my tips for taking the time to pamper yourself in preparation for your wedding.

One moment a day.  Try to find a moment, or better yet an hour, every day just to relax and de-stress.  Do anything you like—take a yoga class, go for a walk, soak in a bubble bath, or indulge in a cat nap.  You’ll be surprised how much more energy you have for others and for your to-do list if you take care of you.

Indulge in to tantalizing treatments.  If you were looking for an excuse to share a spa day with your girlfriends or just to get a massage, you now have it!  Book a facial, a mani-pedi, or an herbal wrap—these relaxing pampering treatments will enhance your beauty, both outer and inner.

Invest in dresses.  For all the pretty parties leading up to your celebration (engagement, showers, rehearsal dinner), choose a few fun and flirty new dresses that show off your bridal style and make you feel like a princess.  If you select wisely, you’ll be able to wear these frocks again even after the wedding!

Polish your look with a new makeup bag.  Try out that new mascara or lip gloss you read about in your favorite fashion magazine.  Then organize it all in style in a pretty, personalized makeup tote to take with you on your wedding weekend.

Focus on nutrition.  One of the best things you can do for yourself is to eat healthy, especially when your schedule is busy and stress is high.  Instead of an excessively restrictive diet, look for foods that are rich with nutrients like dark leafy greens and whole grains, and consider eating more small meals throughout the day instead of wolfing down take-out when you have a moment.  You’ll sleep better and feel better every day on your way to the Big Day.

Get your sexy on.  Nothing feels more indulgent (to you AND your groom) than beautiful lingerie on your wedding day.  I love this bustier set…it is sophisticated and sweetly seductive at the same time!
