Trendy Thursday…. Black, White and Yellow?

Thursday, April 25th, 2013

Good Morning DB Readers! Today we are reporting on all things that are trending NOW!  As we follow fashion trends and browse through our favorite shops, we can’t help but notice a new bold color trend emerging. And it’s a take on one of our favorite combinations. There isn’t a palette more classic or one more versatile than black and white. But there’s one particular color that has joined this duo’s party: yellow.

We love when yellow is paired with just about any color. When paired with black and white, however, it seems to provide an extra jolted burst. In order for yellow to have the most impact in this case, use it sparingly and in unexpected ways (hello, accessories!). This trio is just as appropriate for an outdoor rustic wedding as it is for one feted in a modern art gallery.

Take a look through at the ways we can already envision a black, white, and yellow palette coming together. Then let us know in the comments what you think of this bold combination!

Planning for Your Upcoming Fall Events

by Nicole Brewer

Fall has arrived! Now it’s time to start planning your special occasion looks for the upcoming holidays. We all know that each body is unique, but the right style can make all the difference—here are ways to shop based on your body type.

Petite

If you’re 5’2” or shorter, avoid voluminous shapes and stick with fitted dress silhouettes that offer just enough dress to flatter your figure and reveal enough leg to help you appear taller. You can’t go wrong in this embellished little black dress for any special occasion.

Style 49198L

Plus Size

If you’re curvy all over, look for dresses that provide structure and support, leaving you with an hourglass shape. This fit and flare silhouette instantly flatters by opening up the neckline, cinching the waist and gently skimming the hips.

Style W257086D

Full Bust

Minimize a fuller bust with a one-shoulder silhouette designed to offer support while showing off your neck and shoulders at the same time. This metallic stunner offers both fashion and function, with an eye-catching cascading ruffle that works to balance out all your assets.

Style 4516

Boyish Figure

Define your mid-section with high waisted details like color blocking or empire waist ruching. Size doesn’t matter when waist defining design details work their magic to create curves even where there aren’t any.

Style LR683M

Full Hips

When you’re fuller on the bottom, more room for your curves is sometimes all you need – instead of slim-cut skirts that might pull or tug in the wrong place and draw attention to your bottom line. Minimize full hips with this easy A-line jersey dress that also has eye-catching details way above the waistline.

Style 1889

I am fuller on the bottom than I am on the top. To balance out my silhouette I wear a bra with light padding and look for ways to define my waistline. Most often, I go for empire waist dresses because the cinching begins at the highest and smallest part of my mid-section, instantly making me feel (and look) like I have a smaller waistline. Works every time!
