Good Afternoon DB Readers! Since today is Wedding Wednesday, we decided to share a recent TV segment on CTV that was filmed in one of our Canadian stores! 12-12-12 is the last iconic date of the century, and many brides are choosing this special date to get married! Here are some stats as to why brides are marrying on this date:

• According to the David’s Bridal “What’s on Brides Minds” survey, 43% of American brides have considered planning their wedding on iconic dates and the trend seems to have staying power.

• David’s Bridal estimates that more than 7,500 American brides will marry on 12/12/12 compared to 485 on 12/12/11—a 1446% increase over the prior year.

• Regardless of the fact that 12-12-12 falls mid-week, on a Wednesday, thousands are still choosing to marry on this iconic date.

• 381 brides in Canada are getting married on this date, and possibly more that we don’t know about!

David’s Bridal said, “I do” to Canada last week and was greeted with open arms. I was thrilled to have been invited to attend the grand opening of David’s Bridal’s first two stores in the Greater Toronto Area.

There was so much excitement surrounding the Mississauga store opening on that sunny, but cold, windy morning. With sales associates modeling bridal gowns, fur capelettes, shrugs and the latest hair accessories and Mississagua’s Mayor Hazel McCallion on-site for the ribbon cutting, it was clear that David’s Bridal was home–in a new territory that truly needs the best bridal and special occassion fashions that David’s has offered the US for over 60 years.

For the first time ever, Canadian brides-to-be flooded their first David’s Bridal stores with early morning appointments and a completely booked weekend ahead, ready to find the dress of their dreams!

It was also an absolute honor to represent the brand during the fashion preview held for the press the day before the store opening. I met so many fabulous journalists and fashion editors from print and television who were completely impressed by the high level of fashion and superior value David’s has to offer Canadian customers.

I had never been to the Toronto area, so you can imagine how shocked I was to run into a colleague of mine, Liis. We previously worked together on several fashion spreads, as well as a cover story for the first high-gloss fashion magazine for women size 12 and above, Mode Magazine. Liis was one of our gorgeous models and is still modeling, as well as covering plus size fashion for one of Canada’s fashion mags, Lou Lou’s 14+ blog. So, I couldn’t wait to show her all the newest designer gowns available up to size 28 and beyond! She, too, was amazed to see so many fashion forward styles for every body type at prices everyone can afford.

I’ve always believed that real women deserve real fashion and David’s Bridal most certainly delivers! Whether a size 2 or size 28 or any size in between, David’s Bridal has fashion that flatters your figure and fits your budget-for every special occassion. Now, with plans to expand throughout our neighboring country, we can look forward to more women having access to the fashion they deserve!
