Sister Dresses
by Dan Rentillo

Congratulations!  You’re engaged! Wedding planning can be a stressful process but choosing your bridesmaids’ dresses doesn’t have to be. Sister dresses—a popular new bridal party trend—allows brides to pick silhouettes for their party that are different in style but complement each other in color or detail, ensuring everyone looks great and feels confident. Here are some of my favorite picks in Apple, the color of the season.

Beautiful Bows: Junior bridesmaids can feel like a true part of the party while wearing a faux one-shoulder with decorative three-dimensional details.

Style JB5051

Bold Bubble Hems: Form-fitting bodices create a gorgeous waistline while pickup skirts add volume and dramatic flair.

Style 84091

New Neckline Updates: V-necks flatter a variety of body types and provide extra coverage larger busted women.

Style F14823

Long & Flowing Gowns: One-shoulder necklines add a modern twist to a figure-flattering ball gown skirt.

Style F14430

Happy shopping!

Carmen’s Masquerade Wedding
by Carmen Ordonez

Last week I attended one of my good friend’s wedding and I must say—she looked so beautiful! You might remember me blogging about it a few weeks ago when I asked for your help by tweeting me your favorite look. In case you didn’t hear, the winning dress was the one-shoulder purple dress. It was one of my favorites too and I was secretly hoping it would win!

The wedding gown fit perfectly with the church wedding and the mixture of conservative and chic decor. After the ceremony we all headed to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino for the masquerade-themed reception with masks as party favors on the tables.

Here I am playing around with my mask. I love how it matches my dress! What’s your favorite thing about weddings?

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding
by Katrina Mitzeliotis

Now that the warmer weather is here, it feels like wedding season is in full swing! I recently had a family wedding and decided I wanted to update my look. I opted for a floral frock and paired it with a bright lip. I don’t often think of prints when I’m picking out my formal wear, but it was such a refreshing change—I definitely recommend it!

When you’re selecting a dress for an upcoming occasion, it’s important to opt for a frock that’s consistent with the setting – but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it! Read on for more tips for finding the perfect dress for a summer wedding.

Black-Tie Weddings
For a formal affair, embrace the opportunity to work a glam gown. From pretty pastels to embellishments, the possibilities are endless! Since we’re seeing slits on so many stars on the red carpet, I think a formal wedding is the perfect time to try the look out on your own. I love the dress below, especially because the slit is so tasteful.

Destination/Beach Weddings
A beach wedding is definitely much more laid back—and it’s great to embrace the vibe of your surroundings! I think a printed maxi is both practical and chic for the occasion. Leave the stilettos at home and instead wear wedges or flat sandals and your ensemble is complete.

Rustic Weddings
Rustic, romantic weddings set outdoors are definitely popular in the spring and summer months. Whether it’s an ethereal garden setting or in a rustic barn, you definitely don’t want to go overboard with your ensemble. I recently embraced florals in formal wear, and I think it works so well with a rustic scene.

Traditional Weddings
The family wedding I recently attended was traditional—and if you’re attending a conventional affair the possibilities are endless! I think a cocktail dress in a silhouette that flatters your figure is your best bet. It’s also a great opportunity to try out some of the new trends for the season like blush tones.

David’s Bridal’s Dress makes it to the White House!

David’s Bridal’s Dress makes it to the White House!
by Carmen Ordonez

This past week I was one of 70 Latina bloggers to be invited to the White House! It was such an amazing experience and one I will never forget. We were invited for a special briefing to discuss issues affecting Latinos nationwide, such as health and education. We got to meet with the Chief of Staff for the Department of Education, The Associate Director for the White House Initiatives and the Special Assistant to the President among others.

The night before my big visit to the White House, I got to enjoy a special reception at the Helix Hotel in Washington, D.C. to meet with all the bloggers who were invited. The reception was cocktail attire, so I decided to go with this David’s Bridal strapless number.

At first I had picked out a black dress, but decided to spice it up a bit and went with this gold dress instead. I loved how simple it was, but it still stood out. The gold belt also gave it a nice touch, and did I mention it has pockets? (Always a perk to any dress in my book). I paired it with some black pumps and kept the accessories very minimal.

The dress was a hit throughout the night, and I was still able to feel very comfortable and relaxed in it. What’s your go-to-dress for cocktail parties?
