by Nicole Brewer

This holiday season delivers a handful of fresh, festive extras. Traditional design elements like lace, metallic and fringe show up in unexpected places that can help you create new looks, without rockin’ your pockets. And for many of us, it can be the one time of year to be daring and courageous with our fashion choices.

Sculptural Jewelry
The sweet floral trend meets the elegance of bling with this bold crystal bracelet that makes jewelry look more like art work.

Style 106268

While I may not find an occasion to wear my wedding gown again, I can’t wait to don this bold necklace!  Its bright white shape resembles snowflakes and really pops against a simple strapless silhouette.

Embellishments
From handbags and shoes to waist cinching sashes, jewels, sequins and floral embellishments pump up the volume on these must-have holiday accessories. This rhinestone beaded sash in red or black can accentuate a waistline on any dress or pull together separates like a sleek blouse and chic tuxedo pants.

Lace
Traditional lace gets a modern makeover with nude and metallic underlays and eye catching shapes.

Style Cannes

Metallics
The sassiest satin peep-toe pump just got upgraded with sophisticated crystals that can work with both holiday suits and dresses alike.

Fringe
Feather and fur-like accents adds the touch of drama your holiday style needs.

Katrina’s in a Bridal Party!

by Katrina Mitzeliotis

While it feels like every few months I’m attending a friend’s wedding, it wasn’t until recently that I got to experience what it was like being a bridesmaid first-hand. Some may not be enthusiastic at the thought of filling up their social calendar with countless events and fittings, but I couldn’t wait! The months leading up to the wedding flew by, and while we prepared everything for the bachelorette party and the shower, the events quickly passed, leaving behind fun memories and photographs. Before I knew it the wedding was right around the corner!

The rehearsal dinner was held the weekend before the wedding, and the bride-to-be gave each of her bridesmaids jewelry to wear for the big day. She chose to accessorize the black strapless bridesmaid dresses with statement earrings and a necklace.

Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy managed to wreak havoc on the east coast, less than a week before the wedding day. The storm had devastating effects, but the wedding served as a silver lining. While at first we didn’t know if the big day would be rescheduled, we were so excited that everything came together.

I decided to wear my hair in a loose braid swept to one side that gave way to cascading curls. A smokey eye completed my bridesmaid beauty look. After hair and makeup was done, we gathered to watch our friend emerge in her wedding dress — she looked gorgeous! It was such a sweet, emotional moment, seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time. The embellished gown had cap-sleeves and an open back detailing, and it fit her figure perfectly.

Style T3342

Since the bride’s theme was black and white, we carried pretty black and white bouquets. I loved the theme — I thought it was perfect for the crisp fall day. After the church ceremony, we went to take pictures before the reception. Once we got to the hall, it was time to have fun! We feasted on delicious food and danced all night.

While weddings are always joyous, fun occasions it felt totally different to be involved in my friend’s wedding as a bridesmaid. It made the day even more meaningful and it was such an honor to be chosen to partake in their special day.

Five Must-Try Fall Fashion Trends

Five Must-Try Fall Fashion Trends

by Carmen Ondonez

Fall is right around the corner and with the change in season comes a change in fashion trends. From winter whites to fabulous burgundy and brocade fabrics, this fall there will be several trends worth trying. Here are five of my must-have picks.

Burgundy- This fall we’re seeing tons of rich hues like burgundy. This sultry color is sure to make a fashion statement anyway you wear it.

Style F14169

Brocade- Brocade invaded the runways. Not only is it timeless, but it’s also chic and great for dressing up, like this dress here from David’s Bridal.

Style 83262

Hunter Green- This shade is another one of my favorites for fall. It acts as a neutral in your wardrobe and is the perfect substitution for black.

Style F15103

Military- The military trend is back and strong this fall. Look for the print in coats, sweaters and dresses to easily add structure and sexiness to any outfit.

Leather- Leather is always in style, but this fall we’re seeing more of it. Try it in a skirt or dress, or opt for leather accents to create an edgy ensemble. I personally love seeing leather accents in unexpected classic pieces such as a pencil skirt or a sheath dress.
