Alysen Hargrove and Tommy Cowan  from Denver, CO are celebrating their upcoming wedding in Costa Rica for a varietyof reasons! The most special reason is because the couple got engaged on 11-11-11 last year, and the couple loves numerology!  12 a symbol of wholeness and completion. Since December is the twelfth month, couples with end-of-the-year weddings planned often take advantage of the concept that their wedding represents an ‘out with the old, in with the new’ mentality. Destination Weddings and Honeymoons just posted an article about brides marrying on this iconic date! David’s Bridal estimates that more than 7,500 couples will marry on 12/12/12, regardless of the fact that the date falls midweek. (When it comes to destination weddings, midweek dates are more common anyway, since everyone is traveling and taking time off of work.) Since today is Wedding Wednesday, we decided to share a recent TV segment on CTV that was filmed in one of our Canadian stores! 12-12-12 is the last iconic date of the century, and many brides are choosing this special date to get married! Here are some stats as to why brides are marrying on this date:

• According to the David’s Bridal “What’s on Brides Minds” survey, 43% of American brides have considered planning their wedding on iconic dates and the trend seems to have staying power.

• David’s Bridal estimates that more than 7,500 American brides will marry on 12/12/12 compared to 485 on 12/12/11—a 1446% increase over the prior year.

• Regardless of the fact that 12-12-12 falls mid-week, on a Wednesday, thousands are still choosing to marry on this iconic date.

• 381 brides in Canada are getting married on this date, and possibly more that we don’t know about!
