Red Carpet Trends from the 2010 MTV Movie AwardsJune 16th, 2010

Ya know what I love? (Sing it with me now:) “I love my M-T-V.” The MTV Movie Awards is the best and the only time the fierce factor is welcomed in fashion! And this year’s didn’t disappoint with one ferocious runway of looks. I’m excited to share my hits and misses on that ravishing red carpet.
When I first saw Jessica Biel come in with her safe and sweet ensemble, I wasn’t sure to let out a yay or a yawn. As everyone knows, boundaries should be broken when it comes to the Movie Awards. I can’t help but admit that she still looked effervescent in her Giambattista Valli.
Next to warm up the carpet was definitely Lilo, AKA Lindsay Lohan, with her creative one piece by Pamella Roland. As much as I loved that (finally) she realized the SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet is one to conceal, it was actually refreshing to see her in something classy rather then trashy.
Making Lindsay Lohan look good, Snooki made her way to the carpet after what looks like she ran overtime at the tanning salon. Fortunately, my friends, fashion should be appreciated as an entire ensemble. And just a little insider ‘EXTRA TV’ tip off I got, Snooki happened to have gotten that dress and decided to alter it from a full length gown to a mini herself. Gotta love her. However, the night wasn’t to waste as the divas began to strut on in as anticipated.
Christina Aguilera definitely took the red carpet by storm with her Versace Atelier ensemble. As beautiful as it was, it definitely was an eclectic ‘ensemble.’ With such a variety of texture, glitter and chains, it was like pieces of a puzzle that didn’t quite go together. Either way, she looked flawless and rocked out in appropriate style for MTV.
My favorite of the night, however, really pushed the envelope from head to toe and made this California girl quite proud. Katy Perry looked body-licious with lots left to the imagination. With her simple accessories placed around this fancy, full frock and a fun hairstyle to top, Katy showed how hair and makeup can truly be the essential accessories to finish the look.
Parties like this really allow any woman to bring out their most creative, wild side. David’s Bridal special occasion dresses have an extensive, unique selection to reel in the wow factor at any event. For any dame that’s demure, I suggest this LBD with its fabulous ruffled back. This shows you’re fun and flirty, yet sensual at the same time. And for the more vivacious of vixens, I suggest this short sequin stunner. The length brings in the traditional party pop feel and the silver sequins scream you’ve brought your own spotlight!
When it comes to accessories, they really depend on how glitzy you plan to get. The best way to lift any look into party mode is glitz and sparkles. One of my favorite ways to add pop to your makeup is to smolder eyes with hazy hues, bring rich kohl liner to your inner rims, and top off the look with clear gloss and iridescent glitter mixed together. Skin is also a huge accessory when it comes to body bling. And don’t let it stop there; contrasting hues on your nails (see Katy Perry) to mismatch your dress work beautifully if you have the confidence to carry it.
There you have it to be the next sensation at any party. Guess I will be seeing you under the disco ball!
