Wedding Wednesday! FLOWERS, FLOWERS & MORE FLOWERS!

FLOWERS, FLOWERS & MORE FLOWERS!

I definitely have had the ‘flower child’ gene passed down to me. I love flowers! But really, what girl doesn’t though? Any floral patterns, décor, accents – you name it, I will probably become utterly obsessed with it. When it came to planning a wedding on a budget, I had to find what was in season and what was selling at a reasonable price – along with trying to get exactly what I wanted. Well, thankfully – I had an amazing florist who was very attentive to what I wanted exactly & who was not your typical pushy vendor trying to make an extra buck. Nicole with An Empty Vase located in Boerne, Texas gave me such a pleasant experience. They are AMAZING and I would highly recommend them if you are in the San Antonio area! You may think that florists don’t get reviewed – but they most certainly do! I read nothing but great reviews for An Empty Vase and encourage you as a bride to do the same – do your RESEARCH! (There is nothing worse than getting disappointed on your wedding day by a vendor who might have made some empty promises. Yelp! Is a great tool to search and read reviews on local companies.) I told Nicole everything I was looking for and what I wanted in my wedding and they magically made it appear right before my eyes. Voila! They created everything I wanted and more.

Since I started my own photography business (Chandra’s Collection Photography) a couple of years ago, I have come to absolutely adore photographing flowers the most out of the whole detailed wedding day – especially the wedding bouquets and flower arrangements. I will let you in on a little hint – when choosing your color palette for your big day, don’t be afraid to go BOLD! Bold colors always photograph so beautifully & give your photos a unique POP that you are looking for! I personally went with an ivory, rose & light pink color palette with hints of green. I love dainty & feminine color palettes and my florist created what I was envisioning.  My arrangements consisted of hydrangeas, roses and peonies peppered throughout my bouquet & centerpieces.

The GREAT thing about Texas is that we have beautiful fields of flowers flooding the countryside throughout Spring and early Summer months. A great idea for the brides on a budget is to grab a couple of your girlfriends, find a full field of flowers and hand pick & make your bouquets! You can create simple yet stunning arrangements. The best part you ask? It’s FREE! Just don’t pick the bluebonnets – that’s illegal ;) You can bring your centerpiece vases and create a mock arrangement right there in the field to see if that’s the look you want or if you should keep scouting for more wild flowers. This is a little risky as wild flowers are not always promised during those months – so just be sure to keep an eye on the weather a few months in advance to make sure the fields will get a little rain to make those beauties bloom. Have any of you gals ever done something like that? I would love to see some photos if so!
