Ahhhh – I mean, can we just be on our honeymoon for the rest of our lives? It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Let me tell you about it…
We were racking our brains for a couple of months trying to decide where to go. We threw out every idea in the book nearly. Hawaii, Bali, Greece, Italy, Paris…..the list could go on! All of those places are on our bucket list! So, whatever we chose, we would be happy with! Well, when hubby was away on a work trip, he had a few tricks up his sleeve. He ended up surprising me and booking our honeymoon for us & planning out all of our activities for us as well. WITHOUT TELLing OR ASKING ME. Most girls might get upset by the sheer thought of this, but when he told me where we were going, I couldn’t help but jump for joy & let out a big shriek of excitement. We were going to IRELAND! The one place both of us have always been dying to go for pretty much forever. We love Texas, but being able to cruise the Irish countryside with views that were insanely indescribable was our cup of tea. Think: lush, green rolling hills with fall colors that could make you weak at the knees. So untouched, pure and so different from our way of life here in the US.
But before we were in Ireland, we spent a week in New York City exploring and doing all of the tourist-y things imaginable. I’ve been to NYC several times, but Daniel hadn’t – so we thought it’d be fun to be city folks for a little while! Next thing you know, we’re jet setting to Dublin, Ireland!
We arrived in Dublin and headed to Adare, Ireland. It’s the quaintest little village I’ve ever seen. The one thing that I was pleasantly surprised with was how stinkin’ sweet all of the locals were there. They told us everything that we should do and not to do, and a few folks even mapped out a customized itinerary for us to help us along the way. Not only were the people great – the food was AMAZING!! Did I put enough emphasis on that? A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! They had a lot of the same dishes that we have in the US, except they just put little tiny twists on them that made them even that much better! They are all about the bread too! I think someone could gain a pound or two just thinking about it. My favorite part of the whole trip was going to the Cliffs of Moher. It was just like out of a movie, I swear. We also kissed the infamous Blarney Stone! We went off the beaten path and I’m pretty sure we explored the whole country side by the time we were done with our trip. Ireland is a hidden gem in the world we live in today – untouched, organic and beyond beautiful. Ireland will always hold a special place in my heart – not only because we had our honeymoon there, but the fact that the way of life there is something I wish everyone could experience. I’m convinced that the Irish countryside has been engraved into my memory forever & I will always be longing to go back one day! I encourage you to check it out – you won’t be disappointed!
