Real Wedding: Glory and Ron

A Modern Boho Wedding in Tysons Corner

Real weddings are so inspiring! To get you in the mood to plan—and party!—we asked real brides to spill the details on everything from getting engaged to finding their wedding dresses to the special touches and surprising moments that made their celebrations completely one-of-a-kind. Read on for Glory and Ron’s modern boho wedding in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

How did you two get engaged?

Last Christmas morning, we were relaxing around the Christmas tree after having breakfast and opening gifts, and before I knew what was happening, I saw Ron holding a box, down on one knee, surrounded by my daughter and our dogs and cat asking me to marry him. My heart almost jumped out of my chest!

Tell us about your dress!

Oh, my dress! My beautiful, amazing, stunner of a dress! If I could wear it every day, I honestly would. I knew I wanted something with lace, a V-neck, and a high waist, and I found all of that in my Oleg Cassini dress. I also loved the cap sleeves and button details. My stylist was so patient as I tried on quite a few dresses only to come back to the same one time after time.

Like mother, like daughter:

My daughter and I spent the night before in a gorgeous bridal suite. The first thing she did when she woke up was say softly, “We’re getting married today, Mommy.”

When Ron saw her:

He said I looked phenomenal. Made me blush!

How did you pull off such a beautiful day?

I’m an event stylist and designer, so I knew what I wanted. My style was influenced by my love for vintage, which I mixed with greenery, gold, and clean, simple design details. I didn’t want to overdo it with the bohemian chic vibes, but I did incorporate it into my dress and veil. I wanted my guests to walk into the room and feel like it was totally “Glory.”

What was the most memorable moment for you?

I am of Nigerian descent, and Ron had asked my older brother, who walked me down the aisle, how to say “I love you” in my native language. He included that in his vows to me and it made me so emotional. I still have the piece of paper that he wrote his vows on. It was so special.
