Lights, camera, action!

International Women’s Day is almost here! We’ve highlighted members of our Digital, Social Media, and Merchandising teams, and today we meet members of the creative team—the ones who bring our gorgeous gowns and accessories to life in an inspiring way for our brides-to-be!

What is your favorite part about working at David’s Bridal? I love my work environment and being surrounded by a super talented team who inspires me creatively.

Is there a coworker who has helped you reach an important goal? My manager Lauren has been very supportive in helping me grow in my role. She recognizes my accomplishments and helps create the next steps to enable me to take on responsibilities that propel my creativity and involvement in making decision to present to our photography/marketing team.

What makes you feel confident? I feel most confident when I am able to conquer my work successfully.

As a busy working woman, how do you take care of yourself? I like to say no to work and take time off to mentally, emotionally, and physically rest. I have a meditation routine, yoga, hiking, home spa sessions like masks, and a nice bath to help me relax.

What one piece of advice would you give your younger self? To not be afraid to spend a lot of time by yourself with yourself. Definitely be patient with taking time to recharge for your mental, emotional, and physical needs.

What are you seeing in the world, specifically pertaining to women and girls, that gives you hope? I am very proud to be in this generation where females are coming forward to assess the need to be heard and treated equally in society and the work place. It’s nice to see many successful women stand up for and with other women in helping to pave the way for a progressive future; this to me is a great example for the younger generation.

What’s your favorite current bridal trend? These days I really like that brides want to find their own style and be more adventurous with their bridal party. I wouldn’t call it a trend, but I do like the way the bridal market is changing and are accommodating to a variety of lifestyles. Taking pressure away to find a balance between something grand and something low key.

What is your favorite part about working at David’s Bridal? My favorite part of working at David’s Bridal is that I can walk into a meeting of 5, 10, or 20 people and it’s all women. It’s an empowering feeling.

Is there a coworker who has helped you reach an important goal? My manager and my team has helped me grow tremendously. Everything we do in the photo studio is a collaborative effort so having a supportive team is essential!

What makes you feel confident? My friends make me feel confident. We laugh constantly and there’s no better feeling.

As a busy working woman, how do you take care of yourself? I’ve been really trying to make an effort to prioritize myself lately. It’s a hard thing to do while balancing everything else in life, but so important! My skin care routine is key (obviously, who doesn’t like a good face mask?), but in general I have been trying to pay attention to my body and mental health more.

What one piece of advice would you give your younger self? Cliché but, trust your instincts, put yourself first, and always learn from your mistakes.

What are you seeing in the world, specifically pertaining to women and girls, that gives you hope? It’s been so unbelievably inspiring to see women uniting together to stand up for our rights. Women have been using their voices to run for office, have found the courage to create the #MeToo movement, and have united to march all across the world – what’s more motivating than that? It gives me hope.

What’s your favorite current bridal trend? My favorite bridal trend at the moment is sleek and contemporary gowns, especially minimal silky slip dresses!
