Great dress - way too big

"This is a beautiful dress - we bought red - but now have to pay to return and reorder because it is so big. We measured my daughter exactly - several times, following the sizing criteria on the website. Although she usually wears a size 8-10, the measurements clearly showed her as needing size 12. We ordered it and she is drowning in it - I can pinch at least 3 (maybe 4 inches) in the bust area - probably 3 in the waist.
What's the point of a measurement guide if we still end up with the cost, inconvenience and delay of a dress that isn't sized appropriately?"
