When looking online this dress did not even catch my eye. I am having a destination wedding in Vegas and was torn because I wanted a dress that looks like a wedding dress but also something fun. This dress has it all. The picture does it no justice you have to try it on. I opted for the under skirt for extra poof and also a short veil. I couldn't be happier and trust me I've been looking at wedding dresses for years!!

We wanted to celebrate with a bright, beautiful, vibrantly joyful wedding Mass, pictures at the park, and dinner and dancing at the reception.
I'd always planned on a traditional gown, but once I realized that I was open to tea length dresses (and that my husband-to-be was happily supportive of them if I picked one out), everything about them became more appealing. This was the dress I liked best from the website, so I was disappointed when our closest David's Bridal didn't have it. I was still considering options so I might have done something else instead, but one of my best friends was with me and drove an extra hour further that afternoon so that we could try it at a different store. I'm so thankful she did.
Straight off the hangar, this dress is lovely but didn't have the shape I associated with being bridal. I felt a little disappointed after all the driving we'd done that day, but then adding a full petticoat underneath (the assistant had brought one over at the same time she brought the dress itself) instantly flared the skirt out into a perfect shape. I was ecstatic. There's a good deal of material in the skirt, so it has a lot of 'swish' and twirls beautifully either way. It just needed filling out to be right for me
The fabric is gorgeous. It's hard to photograph it true to color. The dress has a soft sheen, and the pattern on the overlay has a pearly quality, so the dress sort of reflects different shades of white, ivory, and sometimes very soft gold depending on the lighting. The sash it comes with is ivory colored, and the flower on the sash is the same mix of soft whites. There are tiny sequin and pearl accents in the flower that add to the pearly effect and give it a tiny hint of sparkle.
Alterations were the next step. One small issue that I didn't like when I picked up my dress was that the flower at the waist was a bit folded over and didn't stay open perfectly. Our seamstress put a stitch or two in the top petals to tack them flat, and then it was just fine. The closest size to mine fit me a little loosely, and our seamstress took it in beautifully. Adding straps of some type had been important to me to feel secure in it. I'd assumed that I would just end up adding thin ones. She suggested a wider one might work very nicely, and showed me something so gauzy and pretty that I absolutely loved it. The straps weren't quite flat at the top; there was a tiny tuck in them that pulled them in at the top of the shoulder and added detail. When people complimented them at the wedding, many were amazed that they hadn't come as part of the original dress.
The pearly sheen to the organza, the ivory sash, and the different shades of white meant that the dress worked really well with simple pearl earrings and ivory ballet flats that had just a little embellishment. Satin ribbon accents also worked beautifully with it for the same reason. We did a fairly long veil (a bit past elbow length) with ribbon trim, and an ivory ribbon around white roses for a bouquet. Our seamstress had the idea of making a small flower pin for my hair our of some extra tulle and tiny pearl beads, that was a fantastic match for the flower accent on the sash. I wore it just above the veil comb during the wedding. At the reception we took the veil off and I still had the little flower clip that went with the dress. My husband wore a gray tux with an ivory vest and tie, so the whole thing was exactly perfect for a spring wedding on a warm afternoon.
I was so wonderfully comfortable in this dress, whether it was standing or kneeling during the ceremony, when skipping around for pictures in the grass and sitting on park benches in almost 90 degree heat, having to get in and out of cars, sitting at tables, dancing with my husband, or sitting on the floor to chat with young cousins. It needed a little work and a wonderful seamstress to get everything just right, but I can't recommend this one enough.

When I went to DB, I really thought I'd end up with a longer dress. This one however was super cute and nothing else compared to it. It'll be the perfect dress for my late June wedding. As a bonus, for those close up shots that people normally hang up in frames, no one can really tell how long the dress is anyways!

I bought this dress specifically for our First Dance. We decided to surprise our family and friends with a very lively dance (part Paso Doble, part Viennese Waltz). Not only is this dress beautiful, it moves beautifully and is light and comfortable to wear. I also love its classic fifties-ish look and full skirt. Absolutely perfect! :)
