Eh...
Bought this dress as a bridesmaid for a wedding. It's a cute enough dress...for a bridesmaid dress. But I doubt I'll wear it again, so that makes it a pricey $139 instead of a worthwhile purchase. It's flattering enough from the front, but the pleating goes all the way around -- on both sides of the zipper in the back, even, making for kind of a weird silhouette at a side view. If you're an hourglass figure, it looks good; if you're a pear, it does very little to disguise that. Pass the partridges; I'm definitely a pear and look it.
I also don't know if this is specific to the store where I bought it or if it's an across-the-board David's issue, but the size 10 dress I tried on in the store fit perfectly -- slightly loose, in fact. But when I got the dress two weeks later, I had to squirm to get it up over my hips. I'm fairly sure I didn't gain 20 pounds in those two weeks. The store had said that the one I ordered would be "slightly" smaller than the one I tried on, by virtue of the fact that lots of people try on the store dress, and it stretches out. But to be THAT big of a difference is a major issue. I'm praying my Spanx work -- if not, it sort of makes me look like a microwaved bratwurst, all squished into a casing but exploding out the top and bottom. Again, that could be a store issue (if it's that stretched out, for the love, GET ANOTHER DRESS for people to try on), but could be a David's issue too, I don't know -- so buyer beware on that front.
Overall, it could have been a LOT worse, but for the money, I'd just as soon pick up a dress I could wear again somewhere else.
