Perfect for cruise ceremony We had a simple April ceremony on board a cruise, and this dress was just perfect for it. I'm 5'9" and normally wear a 12/14 - I had to order this dress in a 16 because there was no way I'd be able to do anything but stand still wearing a 14. It was lightweight and easy to transport. Easy to wear for the entire day (Not heavy, has a little stretch to it.) I would say it is absolutely critical to wear a white slip or body wear underneath. The dress is sheer! Any light whatsoever will give the viewing audience a detailed body silhouette underneath! Cut the hanger straps out, or they WILL show in pictures. I purchased the bra-slip DB offers, the slip was a little too snug for my rib-cage, but I purchased a bra-extender and it was fine, but honestly probably not going to wear that slip again. It worked for the wedding and that's worth the purchase to me right there! The dress seems a little weak where the cap sleeves are stitched to the dress material, but if you're not tugging on it, should be fine. The lace sleeves and open back are just gorgeous, and there is a snap and a button/loop fasteners to keep it together. Overall, I'd give the dress 4 stars because of the need for an opaque slip. Vintage Elegance I'm getting married at the court house and will have a small reception following. I wanted something simple that I wouldn't feel dumb walking into the courthouse in yet something I could feel feminine and pretty in at the reception. I'm 5'11" w/out shoes and this came to my ankles (barely skimmed the top of my feet barefoot), which was fine b/c I initially wanted a short dress. I was measured in-store at size 16 but felt more comfortable in the size 18 regular (not plus size 18). I'm proportionate and this dress fit me perfectly. The draping hides any little pouch (but not a big tummy). I have a larger chest and it covered the girls with minimal cleavage. The puckering in the back gives a nice shape to your butt if you don't have much back there. I put a strapless bra on and it looks great. You might be able to get away with clear straps. The material is somewhat stretchy (jersey) so it's comfortable. You MUST buy either a skirt slip or shapewear because you can see through the bottom half (noticed only my rear, though, and not the front). Get a slip! The top half isn't see-through, so no problems just wearing my strapless bra!. P.S. your David's Bridal may not have the ivory dress in store, but they will have it in other colors (bridesmaids), so try it on in the store before you order it - if online. April 2, 2014
Love at Second Sight I saw this dress online and wasn't a fan of it, I thought it made the model look like a bean pole just straight up and down and I wanted something that would accentuate my curves. However when I went into DB my consultant pretty much insisted that I try it on after about 5-6 dresses and when I put it on I fell in love. It is light and airy, and so comfortable! It is absolutely perfect for my outdoor summer wedding. It was slightly see through but with nude colored slip it will be perfect. The only thing I am not a fan of is the seam right under the chest area but I am adding a colored sash right there and it is officially perfect. THIS IS NOT JUST A DRESS FOR THE PERFECT FIGURE!!! I am 5'7" and a size 14 (with a belly) and it is incredible on me- give this one a chance. It's worth the time. March 29, 2014
Graceful and Comfortable My husband and I were already married in the court house two years ago, but I wanted to be married in the church. The whole idea was to have a simple ceremony and reception, and I knew I would be chasing our daughter around the reception hall, so the dress had to be something practical. I came on this site to see other women had bought a sash for the dress. Being me, I wanted some kind of detail like that so I attached two flowers to the bunched waist on the side to add a little zing! I definitely did not regret it the day of the wedding. The dress did not overpower me, but accented me modestly and nicely. I was able to chase my 20-month-old daughter around comfortably and sway like a bride just the same. As far as the material goes, I did wear a fitted slip underneath without any see-thru issue. Just don't wear patterned undies underneath ;) March 17, 2014
