My Downton Abbey Dress!
My future mother-in-law saw this dress and brought it to me to try on. I had seen the pictures online and was not crazy about it, but I tried it on and LOVED it. The model pictures do not do it justice at all. What people say about trying on something you don't like on the hanger is definitely true. The dress looks so vintage and classic and the ruffles on the back are gorgeous. I think I'm going to lose the bow in the front and just have an ivory sash. I also got a birdcage veil to wear with it. I'm 5'0", size 2, small chested, and "hip-y" so the sample dress was definitely too large. I'll post pics after my first fitting in July! :)

surprising elegance
Prior to my dress shopping, I had seen this dress in magazines. I wasn't too crazy about the front images of the dress, but the back of the dress made it stick in my mind. I tried on a few other dresses prior to this one. In fact I had chosen another dress. On my second visit to David's Bridal I thought I would try this one on just to get it out of my system. I fell madly in love with it! It's different, elegant, simple and surprisingly chic. I am tall and lanky with not a whole lot of curves. The flow and cut of this dress is perfect for me. It adds some curves and "umpf" in the back. I love it and very happy I tried this one on. I forgot about the one I was going to originally buy and bought this one instead.

I said YES to this Dress!
I am the type of Bride who analyzes everything, so naturally the dress would be no exception. My first trip to David's Bridal, with an entourage of 10, was unsuccessful. I had just recently started a bootcamp and didn't feel very pretty in anything I tried on. Dissapointed, I left empty handed. I continued my work out regiment and when I was feeling a little bit better about myself I decided to try again with my parents and 2 bridesmaids only, so as not to feel so pressured. I had picked out about 10 dresses that I thought would be figure flattering. I am a top heavy girl with some curves so strapless was NOT an option. Once I tried this dress on and walked out of the dressing room my parent's jaws were on the floor. I turned to look at myself in the mirror and tears flooded my eyes. I looked pretty and VERY much like a bride. This dress hugged my curves and even gave my "girls" the support I needed. Then I looked at the back of the dress! SOLD! It's going to be perfect for the outdoor summer wedding we have planned, and I'm hoping my future Husband loves it just as much as I do! It made my size 12 body look like a 6 or 8. The colored sash I ended up going with was Cornflower, the color pictured here is Horizon. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! Measurements: I'm 5'4", 160lbs, 38DD.
PS: I do recommend some spanks-like undergarments that help smooth you out. I wasn't wearing any and it could see that this fabric isn't the most forgiving, but that is an easy fix! Good Luck Brides! :)

It's true... I cried.
I scoffed at getting "a fancy dress". Our wedding is in my parent's living room, this is not the first marriage for either of us, but my fiancee insisted this be special. My attendent pulled three dresses for me. I thought the first one was it... until I put this dress on. I am not a petite girl, and a size 10 fit me like it was made for me. The shoulder straps had to be taken in, and the bustle done. I added the VW sash in champagne, along with a champagne shoe. I love this dress... loved the careful, caring, and uniquely special experience I received at what I (WRONGFULLY) assumed was a "discount" bridal shop. Thank you so much for making a crusty 37 year old tattooed Army chick feel just as special as the next girl. It was a dream of a day.
