Perfect for a beach wedding - lots of compliments
First of all, thank you to all the other ladies who have written reviews on this dress. They really helped in making my decision to buy this dress and it was nice to come back and read new raving reviews after I had bought the dress to get even more excited about wearing it.
I am American but have lived in China and Singapore for the past 12 years. I went into David's just to check out dresses when I was home in Arizona, little did I know I would find my dress so quickly! I was expecting the hunt to be a long one, and maybe having to fly to NY or Hong Kong to find the one dress...boy was I pleased when I tried this dress on and fell in love with it.
My wedding was a destination wedding in Koh Samui, Thailand in March and this dress couldn't have been more perfect! Absolutely loved loved loved the sexy but not too sexy keyhole, unique back. I have always loved backless dresses and to get married in one was even better - plus my fiance's only requests on what type of dress was "no doilies and backless would be nice". And I did not want the typical strapless dress and have to worry about it all day falling down.
The ceremony took place on the sand and the reception dinner was on the lawn of a super private villa. The dress traveled to five countries and didn't get one wrinkle. Rolled up nicely with the garment bag and fit perfectly in my carryon. The material was so flowy and light and comfortable. I kept the original sash as I thought it was stunning. I didn't want to take the dress off. I am still getting compliments on how beautiful the dress and wedding were.
It even looked nice with the baby elephant we had at our wedding. I bought it in ivory and had a little tan so it looked better on my skintone. Since it was on the beach and in the tropics, I needed something soft and flowy, light and in a fabric that would breathe, didn't want anything poofy or strapless at all. Plus something I could walk along the sand and grass on flip flops was just what I wanted. I ordered a size 2P, I am 5 ft. 3 inches and the length was perfect. I had my seamstress put in extra lace scalloping so the back of the dress continued down more of a v shape as opposed to cutting straight across where the zipper was.
I, like everyone else put breast cups in and had to have the top taken in, straps adjusted a few times. The bust is very big - I am a 34B- and I still wish it fit me a bit tighter on the day itself. It still had a little gap in the bust despite my going to the seamstress four times.
Had a bustle put in for the lining and the lace, my seamstress did an amazing job and hid the button delicately under a piece of lace. Also had reinforcement buttons put on the neck to make it more secure during all that dancing. Absolutely loved this dress and would recommend it.
Also loved the lapis bridesmaids and flower girl dresses I bought from David's. Thank you again for making my special day so memorable.
Wish I could do it all over again, the day went by too quickly and of course, just to wear the dress again!

Great Dress
I order this dress online without try it on at all. And I'm impressed. It looks great on me. Love it.

Original timeless dress
I purchased this wedding dress in ivory size 4 ( I'm 5,67 feet tall, 34-25-36) and I needn't do any alterations but the cups and the train. The alterations were quite expensive at DB but they did a nice job. Careful if you are taller than that and you are planning to wear high heels, because the dress is not too long.
It's true that the lace could be finer, but for the price I paid I'm impressed about the amazing dress I got!
I agree with all the previous reviews that claim that the pic doesn't give you a very accurate idea about how wonderful it is once you've wore it.
If you are planning an informal wedding but you still want to wear a wedding dress that makes it special it's a great choice!

Better Than it Looks!
I truly did not like the photo of the dress in the catalog, but in person it was completely different. The texture on the sash and the lace pattern was detailed enough without being too heavy or formal. At first, I thought I could go without a slip underneath to keep the dress light and comfortable. However, the dress does not have the same "flare" factor without the slip to give it some shape at the bottom. On our wedding day the dress was perfect. I ordered it in a size 0 petite, and I'm about 5' 3". I had no alterations, other than putting in cups and adding a bustle. It was comfortable the entire day. My family was also pleased that my dress was not like all the other strapless dresses that are so popular right now, but I still felt like I could show some skin with the keyhole in the back. I paired it with a long, simple veil for the ceremony. I loved it!
